Finnair is One of the First to Launch a Flight to the New Beijing Daxing Airport
According to the Chinese Civil Aviation Authority the Finnish airline Finnair is one of the first international airlines to launch a flight to the new Beijing Daxing airport (IATA code — PKX). The first Beijing-Helsinki flight is scheduled to take place on 3 November 2019. As per timetable, the flight will be performed three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Sundays by A330 airbus in addition to the daily flight from Beijing Shoudu Airport (IATA code — PEK). Thus, Finnair will perform 10 flights from Beijing to Helsinki per week.
Commentary by the Commercial Director of the airline Ole Orver:
Service development in China is one of the airline’s priorities. I wish to express my gratitude to the Governments of the two countries, as well as to all the partners, who assisted in the lead-up to the flight to Daxing airport. The airport will be China’s the most important transportation hub, and we will be able to provide the highest level of service to our passengers there. Finnair route network covers more than 100 destinations in Europe, which will become even more accessible to travelers from China.
Chinese aviation authorities plan to keep Daxing airport fully occupied primarily with domestic flights. However, a number of international carriers have announced their plans to launch flights to PKX. In particular, ATC found out that Aeroflot-Russian Airlines plans to transfer all its flights from Shoudu to Daxing airport starting with its 2020 summer timetable.
