Hong Kong-Riga: a New ATC Route

2021/02/10

The first Hong Kong-Riga flight was performed on January 31 as part of route network expansion. ATC launches a regular flight program to Riga with the flight performed by Rossiya airline B777 aircraft. Flights from Hong Kong are scheduled to be operated on Wednesdays and Sundays, and thus were performed on February 3, 7 and 10.

The program will be resumed in the second half of February following the pause for the Chinese New Year celebration. The new route is commented by the Director of Operations of АТС Pavel Avramenko:

Riga is primarily a regional e-commerce hub. Mail pieces and express operators’ cargoes are being delivered here for their further transfer to Ukraine, Belarus and the Baltics. We started a regular freight service due to the constant demand for capacities on this direction. Now we perform two flights a week, and will increase the frequency to three flights a week starting from March. In addition to cross-border Internet shipments it is also planned to offer this route for commercial cargoes. For this purpose we offer interlining options from Riga to Ukraine, Belarus, the Baltics and Poland involving local airlines and motor carriers.

We have also asked for comments from the management of Riga Airport.
Commentary by airport Cargo development manager Eligijus Jentkus:

Riga International Airport is satisfied with the current cooperation with ATC Group, which ensures the flow of e-commerce cargoes from the Chinese cities of Hangzhou and Hong Kong, and has been promoting the development of air freight segment in Latvia for more than three years. ATC cargo logistics chain ensures a successful delivery of e-commerce shipments via Post of Latvia to their recipients in the Baltics, as well as Chinese e-commerce cargoes transit through Riga to Ukraine for their further delivery by national postal operator Ukrposhta and express operator Nova Poshta. Combining the experience of ATC cargo logistics and the developed infrastructure of Riga Airport, we are currently working together on new projects that will allow to expand the geography of e-commerce cargo transit through Riga in the future.
