Alexey Maltsev, Director general of ATC in China shares his impressions on the Forum and panel discussion:
Eastern Economic Forum – is one of the key events pumping the development of Far Eastern region. This year in was held on the highest level. I had a special interest in e-commerce. Speakers have touched the most important problems, with which the market participants, regulators and consumers encounter. This is so-called a platform revolution, in frames of which big trade platforms, such as Amazon and Alibaba conquer more power having the direct access to the customer and information about him. For the first time State has encountered the situation that the platform, and what is more, a foreign one (if we talk about Russia), knows more about their citizens than the State itself. This is a new reality. The current problems of cross-border B2C trade regulations were discussed, as well as that of safety of the goods which are delivered to the buyer omitting certification procedures.
What perspectives and suggestions were voiced out by the participants for the future?
First, it is necessary to form a united digital space of the Eurasian union. Second, the active participation of Russia in developing general world rules for cross-border trade is needed. WTO was named to be a suitable platform.
How do the tendencies in e-commerce influence ATC?
ATC actively participate in providing logistics of the cross-border online trade. We are working with the biggest players such as Alibaba and Russian Post. For the last years we have acquired a vast experience in digitalization of logistics processes. For instance, we control the movement of every shipment during all stages of transportation, and that is more than 10 mln of parcels monthly.
